The Sacred
Lake
Here the priests
of the temple would wash themselves in the morning to cleanse themselves as they
would soon spend the day honouring their gods and performing their various duties
within the temple.
According
to the book, The Hiram Key, Sequenenre Tao II, the legitimate 17th Dynasty
Pharaoh of Upper and Lower Egypt during the rule of the Hyskos (Shepard) Kings,
would annually venture to this sacred lake and sacrifice hippos in a ritual manner
that would strengthen his resolve and relationship with the gods, and ensure his
return to Kingship over his land. Sequenenre Tao II was a contemporary of Joseph,
Visor of the Shepard King. It is believed that Sequenenre Tao II was in fact the
historical figure also known as the martyred Hiram Abiff of Masonic legend. It
is said that the Hyskos Kings so desired the secrets of the ancient King Making
rituals (in order to gain legitimacy among the gods and the people), that they
conspired to murder the true pharaoh after he had repeatedly denied their request.
After
his death, Kamose, his heir would go to war with the Hyskos and would eventually
drive them from their country, thereby, reestablishing Thebean rule once again
in Egypt.
