Jill Marie gives us a great demonstration of the sheer size of these giant pillars in relation to a human. When discovered by European adventurers in the early 19th century, they found that many of the pillars within the Hypostyle Hall had fallen down around each other and were in grave danger of being lost forever. Due to the tireless work of preservationists over the last century, temples like Karnak are being seen as they were originally built so many years ago.
