When
I first saw the design carved and painted into the underside of the roof-beam,
I was astonished, as it was the first time I had seen anything of original colors.
It amazes me that the original paint would still be visible after all this time.
Beyond the two pillars
in the foreground, you can see two additional rows of pillars. Notice that these
pillars in the background are the open papyriform pillars as compared to the closed
papyriform pillars in the foreground. Papyrus was a symbol of Lower Egypt.
